Thoughts on Powerleveling

"I’m sure these ads look familiar. You seem them on blogs and WoW-related sites. How many of us have used such services. Some Wow players despite it while others are active users. Sites such as the The Unknown Gamer level your account as a service, and I see no reason as to why someone should be penalized for using such a service. If I want my to skip some of the boring, early levels of the game and get right into the later game action, I shouldn’t be penalized for using a power-leveling service. Though others would argue it to be ridiculous to pay for a game and pay someone else to play it. Such is the controversy associated with power-leveling in WoW. Furthermore, there is tons of basic knowledge and strategy to the game that only game play experience would provide. Power-leveling overlooks that for first time players. On the other hand, at the higher levels, it takes an incredible amount of time to just go up a few levels. And what if I want another rogue. Starting a rogue or warrior all over again is entirely out of the question. Leveling from 52 – 57 is ridiculously hard, and I’d prefer to have no part of it. I shouldn’t have to bother of leveling just because I’m on a new realm. Is Power-leveling for WoW worth the risk of Blizzard or suspending your account. When might it be worth the risk. According to an estimate from a company called Power-levels.com, it would take someone starting from scratch 768 hours to reach the highest level you can hit in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Or, for someone who had already topped out at level 60 in the original WoW, it would take 384 hours to get to the top level, 70, of Burning Crusade.

That's a lot of hours, and if you're one of the many people with limited time who still wants to play online games like WoW at the highest levels, Power-levels.com and a growing number of competitors may have just the solution. That is, if you're OK with breaking the rules, as well as what some say is the spirit of the games. These game consultants sell what are known as power-leveling services. the Auction House

"Introduction This guide was written to help players enjoy the time they spend at the Auction House (AH). Every player of WoW will visit the AH many, many times during their gaming career. Why not get the most out of it. Spend a little less gold for the items that you need and get a little more gold for the items that you are selling. Do that often enough and those expensive materials for that high level enchantment will now be affordable. The advanced section is for those gamers that want to become traders on the AH and make some serious gold. The basics of selling on the AH In this guide I will be using examples of AH prices. A notation of 12/20 (17) means opening price of 12g, a buyout of 20g and an expected selling price of 17g. The expected selling price is your own personal opinion of what you think that item will sell for on that day. That number will become easier to predict as your experience grows. If you find yourself in a situation where you don’t know what something is worth then talk to a trusted group mate or guildee. If your friend from school plays on a different server his/her advice may be wrong as prices can vary considerably from server to server. Never create an auction like 1/50 (40). Nobody will buy it out at 50, they will bid 1g and hope for a windfall. It takes many, many bids to move a 1g starting price up to around a fair price of 40g. You will likely end up selling that 40g item for 5g. You would be much better off listing it as 35/50 (40) particularly if the initial fee is high. The 35g initial price should attract some bids and then you can hope for either continued bidding or a buyout by some player with more gold than brains.

Even an auction like 1/30 (40) can backfire on you. Buying a 40g item for 30g is attractive to players but a lot of them will try to bid the 1g and hope for the big score. Try to bracket the estimated selling price when you set the initial and buyout prices. The example of 35/50 (40) is smart. The initial bid price is a little below what you think the item will sell for. The buyout is about 25% higher than the expected sell price. Always set a buyout since many players simply refuse to bid and will only buy items. If they need something now they buy it now. Not a smart way to buy but their loss is your gain. You can see if other identical items are for sale on the AH by browsing. wow gold Many players just undercut the lowest price currently on the AH when they create an auction. Simple, but effective. The problem is that you may be entering a price war. wow gold You can often maximize your selling price by waiting until there is less competition for your item (More on this in the advanced section.). The AH charges a fee for every item that you try to sell. You will see the fee listed when you place the item in the auction box. You will pay this fee immediately when you create the auction. "How many times have you been to the auction house, checking for better equipment, trying to decide between +7 Stamina/+6 Agility wrist armor and +6 Stamina/+7 Agility wrist armor only to find out that those new blue bracers just don't quite go with your orange gloves, after you've won the auction. Of course it's arguable that the game is all about stats and not looks. But what about the pleasure of catching everyone's eyes with your slick, and useful, new outfit. Surely, even the most hardcore PvP players should be mindful of their appearance. What's the point of being the best in your realm if you look like the average Joe. Be creative! Look for items with more than just stats! With a distinctive look, people will remember you better! After all, ""There goes that vile Shaman"" is so much more memorable when you add, ""with the blood-red gloves""! With the exciting new Dressing Room feature in the upcoming patch, you'll no longer have an excuse for not competing as much with your looks as with your stats! How does the Dressing Room feature work. It is quite simple. Each time you see an icon for an object, even if you can't equip it, you can Ctrl+Left-Click on it and a new window will pop up, showing how you would look with that item equipped. Even better: you can use the same mechanism for any item linked in chat (trade, party, guild, whisper, etc). You can use the Dressing Room to model items that are being rolled for in the Group Loot/Need Before Greed Popup window Last but certainly not least, the auction house interface has been revamped to get its own automatic Dressing Room window. Just check the Display on Character box to activate the feature, and Left-Click on any item you want to see on your character.

You can even combine this with other methods, such as the chat link. Chat Who wants to buy a custom made dress. Any equipable item link can be previewed with the Dressing Room. To do so, just Ctrl+Left-Click on an item linked in chat. This technique is very useful to send ""preview"" links for things you can preview normally only on yourself. You can use it to link: Professions items from your professions recipe window. Quest items from your quest window. Quest rewards When you take a quest, you can now see how the reward will look on you. wow gold Ctrl+Left-Click on the icon and the Dressing Room window will pop up.

General Survival Tips

"Situational Awareness Being aware of your surroundings and your current situation at all times is crucial for surviving in PvP. This includes the actual terrain and setting that you are in, your character's current hit points and mana/energy/rage, the status of your abilities which have cooldowns, and the status and location of any nearby enemies. It's a complex set of assessments that must be constantly reappraised, since PvP combat is a constantly changing battlefield. Strength in Numbers In any PvP situation, having allies to watch your back is a good thing. When battling in a group, such as in structured PvP situations such as Arena and Battlegrounds, its crucial that everyone work together as a team. Stay in the same vicinity, use communication, coordinate attacks and ability use, and have a strategy. Good teamwork is probably the most important factor for success in group PvP - it also takes time and practice to develop, but its worth working on. Stick Together When in a group, try to remain in the same vicinity. However, don't bunch together too tightly, as that will make your group susceptible to area of effect attacks. Instead of bunching up, try to be close enough together where everyone is in range of beneficial effects such as healing spells, and where you can quickly assist a comrade. Sometimes it will be very tempting to leave your group to chase down that almost-dead enemy. Consider that you may be vulnerable to attacks if you separate from your group, and you can weaken them by leaving them a player short. Some teams actually work on this as a strategy, pulling apart strong groups or baiting them into ambushes. You're only as good as your weakest link. Level Difference The way level difference affects the relative power between players and computer-controlled monsters is present but to a lesser degree when comparing players of differing levels.

Level difference between players can be overcome by factors such as gear, PvP experience and know-how, the setting, and class matchups. Lower level characters should not be overly afraid of a slightly higher level player, especially if they happen to have the advantage of numbers. Equipment Upgrade your equipment with stats that will assist your survivability in PvP. Every class will be able to take more hits and live longer by increasing their Stamina. Resilience is also a useful statistic as it decreases enemy critical hit percentage, critical hit damage, and damage-over-time effects. Racial Abilities Try to learn the opposing faction's racial abilities, as some of them can be used in PvP. Undead, for example, have an ability that counters Fear effects. All Night Elves can use Shadowmeld, which makes them invisible much like a rogue's Stealth. Gnomes have Escape Artist, which lets them escape from immobilizing or movement speed reducing effects. Mounts The epic land mount is much faster than the normal land mount. wow gold When chasing down or escaping from other players, those with an epic mount have a huge PvP advantage over those that don't. There are also additional ways to increase mount speed. Mithril Spurs and a the riding enchantment for gloves are gear enhancements that improve mounted speed. wow gold The quest reward Carrot on a Stick grants the same benefit. These bonuses stack with each other to a maximum of 10% bonus speed. Having these speed boosts can allow you to catch or get away from a player with the same base mount speed. wow power leveling In Outland, a new speed-boosting item called the riding crop was introduced. Pursuing and Escaping There is a wide range of player spells and abilities that can momentarily prevent or impede players from running: Polymorph, Fear, Charge, Entangling Roots, Concussive Shot, Frost Shock, Curse of Exhaustion, and many more.

Progress Made…

" Well, it has been a while since I posted, and I have managed to get to level 58 in the meantime. My most recent area of activity has been in Silithus, which I have found to be the most difficult area to move around in so far. The levels of the beasts and mobs has not been that tough, especially for a level 58 (well, I was 57 at the time), but they are so densely packed together that it is tough to make my way to a particular point without getting attacked and dismounted. One of the more difficult quests was the Hive in the Tower. This quest requires that you climb to the top of a tower and basically knock over a wasp nest in order to get something out of it. All around the base of the tower are the Tormented Sentinels and Druids that will aggro from an abnormally long distance. Also, when they are killed, they usually spawn a hornet that also needs to be killed. More than once I was mobbed and had to sacrifice the bear and feign death to get through it; and that was just to get to the base. Once at the base, I had to pull the two NPC’s from inside, then deal with their spawns, all without getting aggro from nearby NPC’s. Once they were dealt with, I was finally able to go inside the tower. After I got inside, two or three wasps spawned and started attacking. At this point I simply decided to sacrifice the bear again, run upstairs and wait for the bear to die. Once the wasps came up for me I was able to feign death again, and then revive the bear. Now the pod: When I did the right-click on it, three more wasps came out, but by this time I at least had the goo from the pod.

However, if you reall want to complete the quest, you have to kill at least one wasp to get the next object, which turns out to be a book covered in some substance. I simply froze one wasp, turned the bear and my gun on one of the others. After it died, I looted and then got killed by the other two. A bit expensive on the repair bill, but I saved time on the trip back to the Cenarion Hold Oh — and did I mention that in real life I have a phobia of stinging insects. My next foray is into the Western Plague Land, and I am now trying to set the beacons on all four tower doors. And the undead seem to be as tightly packed as in Silithus! Oh well…the things we do to get to level 60!! " "The Sha'tari Skyguard is a faction related to the Sha'tar that is closely associated with a special epic flying mount, the nether ray. There are other reputation-based rewards as well, such as epic trinkets. Once you reach honored reputation, you will have access to a free direct flightpath between the two Skyguard camps in Terokkar Forest and Blade's Edge Mountains. While using this flightpath, you get to ride a nether ray, as a preview of what you will look like when you get your very own. A combination of daily and one-time quests allows you to raise your reputation from the starting state of neutral all the way to exalted. You do not need to have 300 riding skill to do any of the Skyguard quests or to purchase the Nether Rays at Exalted. You will need 300 riding skill to ride a nether ray, however. To begin the process of befriending the Skyguard, talk to Yuula, who is located near the flight master in Shattrath City.

If you have the requisite 225 riding skill, she will send you out to slay Gordunni Ogres in the Barrier Hills, which are only a few seconds by flying mount from Shattrath City. wow gold Once you've slain the requisite number of ogres, Yuula will be impressed enough with your prowess to recommend you to the Skyguard camp of Blackwind Landing. Blackwind Landing, Terokkar Forest This camp is located southeast of Shattrath City, north of Skettis near the river's fork. The entire region is surrounded by impassable mountains, so the only access to Blackwind Landing and Skettis itself is by flying mount. wow gold From this outpost, the Skyguard launches attacks against the arakkoa of Skettis - and they're looking for new recruits to aid their cause. The questgivers in the camp offer an assortment of one-time quests, which may lead to group quests with powerful rewards. There are also two daily quests in the area that yield reputation through Exalted: Fires of Skettis This bombing run quest, which starts from Sky Sergeant Doryn, involves destroying Monstrous Kaliri eggs with the provided Skyguard Blasting Charges. mp3 Fling bombs down at the clutches of eggs until you've destroyed the required number. Look for the platforms high up on the trees, as they have an abundance of eggs. The key to completing this quest efficiently is avoiding the dreaded Monstrous Kaliri, who make a living of knocking players off their flying mounts and sending them plummeting. Strafing around them, so that your back is not exposed, is one way to shake them off.
